Today marks the day I officially start classes. Finally! Today I had Performance Studies: Focusing on Gender and Feminism. I entered the classroom, along with about 20 other students. I've always heard that a lot of adults attend post secondary here, so I was expecting to see a lot of mid-older adults. But to my surprise, almost everyone was more or less about my age. It's a beautiful thing to have students from Canada, Germany, France, Bangladesh, Greece, the Netherlands, and of course, Sweden all in one room. I can't remember if I'm leaving out a country.. But anyway, class was filled mostly with just introductory jibberish. Except at one point, where the teacher brought up the notion that perhaps one day men would be able to bear children. What?!?!

After class, we attended a talk by a woman who spoke about a couple of European lesbian-based films. She showed a few minutes of one of the films to the audience and awkwardness filled the room as it showed two women slobbering and tying their tongues together for a good two minutes. Then they started spitting at each other.. then they started to growl at each other like lions. Interesting, I know. After the talk, a woman suggested to a few of my classmates and I to stay for later on to watch a very sexual film based on lesbian pornography. I don't know how I'd feel about watching lesbian porn on a big screen - awkwaaard. I rejected that offer.

I spent lunch at a diner on campus with a new friend who comes from Paris. We spoke mostly about the class we share and of our experiences of being an international student in Stockholm. There was a bit of a language barrier but we managed. It's also a good opportunity for me to practice my French! To eat, I ordered the lasagne, which I came to regret. One wouldn't even be able to tell if it was lasagne or not. Needless to say, it tasted awful.

Now that I'm home, I've been looking up what readings to do for this course. I have to read two books, three articles, take notes, and do an assignment by next week's class. Fun! No wonder people here usually only take one course at a time. But at one point during my semester, I'll be taking three at once. Wish me luck!

Ps. Last night I actually slept before 4am. I think I deserve an award.
