Currently hanging out in the sixth floor kitchen with some friends, half-eaten snacks and an empty wine bottle on the table, MB playing soothing jams on the guitar, the opened window exposing the wet rain and the occasional lightning flashes. I don't even know how to put into words how and peaceful and blissful this atmosphere is feels.

Last Wednesday, a large group of us went to an Irish pub called Saint Patrick's. For some inexplicable reason, I wasn't really feeling for a night out. I went regardless, hoping that maybe the scene and a few drinks would turn my mood around. But no luck. Maybe because I made the regrettable mistake of wearing my wedges that ended up cutting into my toes soon after arriving at the pub. Or maybe because when trying to find a club to dance at, all were closed and we had to resort to going to someone's apartment.
The next day after class, we went to Lyon for a few hours for a little tour. Last time I went, I'd only been able to visit the Old Town. This time, I got to see more of the city, and it's definitely made me love it more. Even making our way to Lyon from St. Étienne on the bus was amazing, watching the scenery pass us by of houses sitting on large green hills that resembled broccoli.

Yesterday was a very long day. After class in the morning, presentations were held by each class in front of everyone in the program during lunch hour. My class' presentation was about a city created on the Moon. I don't think anyone had a clue of what we were talking about. After the presentations, we sang a song to one of the directors of the program who planned to leave the country. All I have to say about that is.. we
definitely should've rehearsed more. After grabbing a quick lunch, we took a trip to a church called the Corbusier. It's a Catholic Church designed by a very abstract architect. It was weirdly shaped with red, blue, yellow and green colours randomly placed on doors and windows. Even the altar and cross were abstract. And it was incredibly acoustic in there, with every little sound making an echo. Once we got back to St. Étienne, a few of us did some groceries and went over to EL's house for dinner. He's doing a homestay, which was honestly the best decision, something I should've done. His parents are two of the most nicest people I've ever met. They're just so welcoming and accommodating, and they prepared such a great dinner. We had four different types of salads, three courses of bbq'd meat, and of course, baguettes! SO delish! Their house was also amazing. Their basement was like nothing I've seen before. The floor was partially filled with gravel, with their own artwork posted on the wall, with other decorations they've taken from their travels around the world. It also lead to their very own greenhouse with a garden and vintage decor. We all conversed in the basement over dinner and beers, and made a vodka toast. Coolest. French people. Ever.

Later that night, we went over to a kareoke bar, which actually ended up turning into a club. We sang one song, and one song only - Someone Like You by Adele. And after that, it was just drinking and sweating it out on the dance floor! They surprisingly played some old school hiphop and reggae towards the end while SS and I couldn't stop dancing. It came to a point where we just took a look around the dance floor and recognized only two people we knew from school. Everyone else that we came with had already left! Then they started playing slower songs for people who wanted to sing kareoke and I guess that was our cue to leave. One of the Brazilians walked us home, to where we found EL randomly on the street just wandering about. He joined us on our walk back to make sure we got home safely :) That night was a great one, except for the fact that I cut my lip from a broken beer bottle.

Today was beach day! We went to a place called St. Victor where we could swim by a river. The place was so beautiful. Just to sit there, admiring the scenery with the sun beaming down on you was amazing. Facing the river, you could see tall mountains covered in trees and houses. We took a dip in the water, but I was a bit freaked out by all the big fish we saw. At one point, we saw one randomly flip out of the water! Last week, i developed this really weird tan, and I'm sad to report that the sun today did not fix it.
Ps. According to French locals, where I'm staying in St. Étienne is the ghetto. Grrreat.
