My time
here has only continued to go downhill.
Yesterday I went to school to attend a Student Union fair only to find
out, it was in another language. So I
thought, oh well, I have other things to do anyway. I had to register for a Student Union membership,
and register for one of my courses.
Doing only these two things were enough to make myself question why the
heck I’m on an exchange program. Long
story short, the staff was rude and useless – pointing me in false directions,
clearly not knowing what they were talking about. I was forced to walk from one side of the
campus to the other multiple times in the cold and wet weather to find where I
needed to be. The wetness seeped into my
boots, soaking my feet. After half an
hour of playing Where’s Waldo, I ended up figuring out what to do and where to
go on my own with the help of my handy dandy smartphone. Lastly, I had to register for a University
card. I took a number, which was
82. They were only on number 30. 15 minutes passed and they were only on
number 36. That’s when I decided to go
home and take my “fuck this” attitude with me.
On another
terrible note, I learned that I have nothing to do until February 21, which is
when my classes start. I wish I had
known earlier how late classes were going to start so I could at least consider
skipping that crappy orientation on Monday.
And with that said, it makes me miss home even more. I’ll be missing my cousin’s beautiful wedding
for nothing. I desperately wish I had
the funds to bring me back to Toronto for a month.
On my way
home yesterday, I decided to stop by the city to just cool off and appreciate
the European atmosphere. As I just stood
and stared at the landscape of historical European buildings, I thought to myself
that many people would kill to be in my position. The very least I can do is take advantage of
it as much as I can. Maybe I’ll explore
on my own. I don’t know. The only thing
I have planned at the moment is going to a city further up north called Uppsala
to visit Liatrice’s friend on Saturday.
Hopefully I’ll find a way to fill up my days soon!
Ps. At least my cold is getting a bit better?
